Mythology, Religion & Legend β Power Ranking TOP 100
I wrote a book ranking the most powerful gods, monsters, and heroes from world mythology, religion, and legend! The ranking is heavily influenced by my own perspective, but every placement is grounded in the actual lore and episodes from each mythology, so I think it makes for a satisfying read.

Rank 100: Theseus (Greek Mythology)
Overview
Theseus is a great hero of Athens in Greek mythology, famous above all for slaying the Minotaur β the monster lurking in the labyrinth on the island of Crete.
Theseus is most commonly said to be the son of the Athenian king Aegeus, though an alternative tradition holds that Poseidon was his father, leading to frequent depictions of him as a demigod.
He was also a member of the Argonauts β the crew who sailed on the Argo β adventuring to various places and defeating many monsters (such as the wild sow Phaea) and powerful enemies.
Among his adventures was a descent into the underworld in an attempt to abduct Persephone, queen of the underworld β but Hades discovered his scheme and had him bound to the Chair of Forgetfulness, stripping him of his memories and will.
Why This Ranking
Theseus is one of the most iconic heroes in Greek mythology, but his strength ultimately remains within human limits.
His valor and wisdom are exceptional, but he possesses none of the attributes that make heroes transcend humanity β divine protection, immortality, powerful divine weapons, or special abilities (beyond perhaps his ability to lift a great boulder). Compared to figures like Hercules who possess superhuman power even within the same mythology, he falls far short.
That said, the feat of slaying the monster Minotaur and his track record of winning through many battles β including against human armies β confirm that he unquestionably possesses power worthy of the hero tier within Greek mythology.
While he cannot be said to rival beings close to the divine, he is certainly considered among the stronger of the human heroes.
